Temperatures reached 41ยบ this afternoon. Dogs, cats and humans searched out shade and flopped out in front of fans rigged up with ice packs.
Gill wasn't taking any chances of sunburn today...
Later in the afternoon, Gill & I set off to hunt down ice cream at Lac du Chambon. Stepping out of the air-conditioned car is a bit like sticking your head in an oven on full blast.
The Lake was much busier today with swimmers, water skiers, donut riders and pleasure cruisers.

On the way home, we made a brief stop on a bridge to take in the view of The River Creuse. The bridge was destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt in 1953.Early evening wasn't really much cooler, but we headed for Argenton.
There was a market in the square and main streets, had a wander round, but didn't buy anything.
Settled in a bar and watched the world go by...
As we drove home dark clouds gathered, the wind rose and leaves were coming off the trees as if it were autumn.
The temperature was dropping, though it was still warm enough to sit outside and watch lightning light up the sky in all directions. By just after midnight the rain started sheeting down and we went indoors.
During the storm, which went on all night, telephone and internet services were down.
